SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia (Thursday, March 4, 2010) – Round 4 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover has been called ON today with the opening heat hitting the water at 7:30am (10:30 NZ). The solid conditions on offer this morning could potentially see a winner crowned by day’s end.

The opening event of the 2010 ASP World Tour season, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast awoke to pumping three-to-five foot (1 - 1.5 metre) waves running down the point at Snapper Rocks this morning, prompting event organizers to call men's Round 4 on while placing the women's Round 4 on hold.

"We still have some beautiful waves pulsing through today and we'll be getting underway with the men's Round 4 at 7:30am," Rod Brooks, Quiksilver Pro Contest Director, said. "We'll monitor the conditions throughout the first eight heats, but waves permitting, we could potentially move into Round 4 of the women, or carry on and finish the men today."

Up first this morning will be current ASP World No. 5 Adriano de Souza (BRA), 23, battling current ASP World No. 23 Adrian Buchan (AUS), 27, in the opening heat of Round 4.
