Saturday 7th August saw the start of the 2010 Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage Junior surfing series. The series is being run over two events, as is a mobile event around the Taranaki Coast.

The first event of the Ocean and Earth Teenage Rampage series attracted competitors from all over New Zealand's North Island including current junior standouts Ben Poulter (Raglan), Paul Moretti (Northland), and Waretine Wano (Piha).

The event was held at Arawata Rd a right hand point break situated down the Taranaki coast near Opunake. The competitors were greeted with strong cold offshore winds straight off snow covered Mt Taranaki. Waitara Boardriders food stall was kept busy firing out hot food and drinks all day. The waves were a contestable 3 -4 foot.

The winners of the divisions were:

Under 13 Boys
1. Te Rapai Barbarich-Love
2. Isaac Kettle
3. Michael Watts
4. Kehu Butler

Under 16 Girls
1. Gaby Sansom
2. Millie Crewe
3. Bianca Sansom
4. Eloise Stevens

Under 16 Boys
1. Paul Moretti
2. Josh Kettle
3. Sean Kettle
4. Jordan Griffin

Ratings points are collected over the two competitions to find the overall champions.

The second competition of the Teenage Rampage series is on Saturday 11th September. Competitors must register on Friday 10th September at the New Plymouth Board Riders Club From 5pm onwards.
