Maldives

The Maldives are a group of over 1200 islands formed from coral & located south west of India in the Indian Ocean. It is a tropical island paradise with pristine clear waters and world renowned for it's beautiful overwater bungalows. But if you're not travelling with a non-surfing partner then the best way to get the most out of a surfing trip in the Maldives is to get yourself on a surf boat charter.

A great variety of reef breaks exist ranging in intensity from quite mellow and enjoyable shreddable walls to gnarlier hollow sucking dry pits. There is something for everyone when you surf the Maldives, and although crowded it is possible to get away from it all and enjoy some of the warmest most pristine water you will ever experience. It is a tropical island paradise and you will have no complaints taking your non surfing partner for a couple of weeks here.

The same swells hitting Indonesia deliver the goods to the Maldives except that the latitude is higher and the SE exposure is less convenient.

There are three main surfing areas;
• The North and South Male Atoll, during the South-West Monsoon season, from May to December. From May to August waves are strongest.
• Central Atolls standard waves are long clean rights with size varying between 3 and 6ft. During austral winter (April-October), it's never flat
• Southern Atolls in the South from February to April and from September to November

PNG

Located near the equator, Papua New Guinea (PNG) is the second largest island in the world. Only 5.5 million people call PNG their home, but this consists of 850 different tribes and more than 800 languages that are spoken. Parts of Papua New Guinea can be dangerous, but it is not nearly as bad as commonly perceived and these areas are away from the main tourist areas. By using a little common sense you'll more likely be smothered in smiles than encounter any problems. One government official has stating saying there is still tribal flighting in the Highlands, but they stop flighting and pose for you when they see you have a camera!

PNG is a relatively new destination for surf enthusiasts. The areas of New Ireland and New Hanover are the main regions currently being commercially surfed.

Crystal clear water, white sandy beaches, friendly people, spectacular coral reefs, world class surf breaks, abundant fishing, picturesque villages, fascinating cultures, idyllic palms and unforgettable sunsets make this region a travellers delight and an unspoilt, isolated paradise. What better way to completely experience all that is on offer than the simplicity and freedom of a live-aboard yacht charter.

The islands of the Bismarck Archipelago are untouched by mass tourism, untroubled by 5-star resorts and package tourists not interested in the culture of the country that they are visiting. Every experience that you have will feel like you are the first to experience it, the first person to visit this island village, surf this wave or snorkel on this reef. Undiscovered waves going unridden? - Plenty of them.
