The 2010 North Island Longboard Champs is a one day event (with a maximum of 60 competitors – entries allocated on first in first serve basis), being held on Saturday 4th September at a location between Forestry and Waipu Cove on the north east coast of the North Island. The backup date is the 11th of September.

A strong team of SNZ accredited judges has been procured for this year, to ensure the validity of the overall results. Registration: 7.30am Saturday 4th September at contest location.

(Contestants will be notified of exact location via email on Wednesday 1st September. This will be confirmed via both text and email on Friday 3rd September. Any postponement will made known to contestants by Wednesday 1st September)

Heats: Surfing will commence at 8am. Contest arena will be decided upon at the discretion of the Head Judge and Contest Director.

Food: Larry Chapman will be present throughout the day, selling drinks, hot sammies, pizzas etc.

Morris Surfboard Charity Raffle: In an effort to benefit the community through the running of this event, Morris Surfboards has kindly donated a 9ft surfboard that will be raffled among contestants and spectators. Raffle tickets will cost $5 with the proceeds being donated to Westpac Rescue Helicopter (Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust). The board will be displayed throughout the duration of the event with raffle tickets being sold by our volunteer team. The Raffle will be drawn at the official prize giving at the Smashed Pipi - winner must be at the prize giving to take home their brand new board.

Smashed Pipi Restaurant and Bar Official Prize Giving / After Party: After a long day at the beach, what better way to unwind than with a couple of drinks at the Mangawhai local haven - the Smashed Pipi. The function will start from 7.30pm, with the official prize giving commencing there at 8.30pm. Contestants will be given an entry ticket at registration that morning (may also have a ‘plus one' ticket upon request).
