Up here you would be more described at charging if you were taking on bigger waves with not much regard for self, Ie keana kennely Charges at teaupoo.

too cool for school Jabes.... my hero!! In fact, I just love everyone who thinks that way. It makes for less crowds on those small-but-peeling days that were just made for a mal.
I do feel pretty sorry for you guys whose "self respect" (translation - need to feel cool and be acknowledged by others as such) disallows you to experience the joy that is the Glide... riding a longboard on those days for which longboards are ideally suited.
Anyway - back to chicks who Charge, Glide, Rip or otherwise generally kickass in the waves.
Or surf better than Jabes.

and actually, now that I look more closely the wave in that profile pic is nothing but a mushburger Jabes. Belinda's has all the size, twice the pitch, and as 2020 points out has a hot chick on it... as opposed to a hairy-ar5ed ugly dude....

I was out surfing at Oakura and saw Paige Hareb surfing when she was about 12. she ripped better than all the boys.

She was a gangly 13 year old and we used to call her Gidget, she used to paddle out and come and talk to us and we would quietly paddle away cos she would rip the bag out of it and make us look bad.

so my internet rippers ive been out surfing for the last 3 or so hours and missed the last little bit, has the adult literacy class explained the difference between surfing good and charging yet?

yep. we've concluded that surfing good and charging are both things that most girls do better than you Jabes.
the South Island Chapter has also been out surfing for a brief 1.5 hour session. Glassy, offshore, head-high and a few plus sets. Still; shifty, hard to line up, typical brights with the inside bank a meat-grinding dredger of sucky brown closeouts and the outer bank mostly not working. Managed a few good ones but they were long in coming. Hoping for improvements.
Now, back to Chicks who Charge please....

yep gidget &she was always surfing,makeing a lot of the boys look average.had a hard core kiwi crew in manly back then,aloha manly surf shop ruled then and still does to this day,owned&opperated by a old sumner grom kiwi style.

did I charge? no. I'm a surfer of 'capable' though by no means impressive talents. The only way in which I could be said to "charge" I suppose - is that I will paddle out into it, throw myself over it, and otherwise do things that I probably should not do at my level of skill... but I do them because occasionally the result in pure stoke (though more often beatings).
Did the evil seabreezes destroy it? Incredibly, no. It was light offshore and glassy as. This almost never happens here. I can't figure it out.
Interestingly, we also got a confirmed "Brighton Pumps" in the water sighting. I believe this is the first such in nearly a year.
The only way in which I could be said to "charge" I suppose - is that I will paddle out into it, throw myself over it, and otherwise do things that I probably should not do at my level of skill... but I do them because occasionally the result in pure stoke (though more often beatings).
And this is the decription of charging. Pushing your own limites etc.
Put a pro surfing chick against an also ran at any beach (or anyone on this BB) and she will look like a ripper. Put her up against a decent male pro surfer and she will appear to lack flow and power.

yeah unless its steph she rips on a guy or girls level i reckon and i think someone else mentioned Coco Ho surfs amazing too and would stand up against alot of the pro guys

yeah just checked Jelly it was Dooma and Elko in the 88 final, earlier on elko had versed Todd holland and I was sat near garcia and treated to Sunny Garcia and some other pro having a right old b1tch fest about holland not being good enough to be out there and he wasnt pro material.... he he he ...
waves were sh1thouse too, I think after that final the whole pro tour revolted and demanded that the tour be placed at beaches with decent waves rather than those that would attract the biggest crowds, surf history in the making....
