Did you see the part that said i spent 2 days at balian out of 6weeks there? Now what would that suggest about where i was mainly surfing?

After getting scared at balian. The remainder of the trip was spent at surfing the small days at Kuta beach?
Your white African heritage betrays you Jabba. Your family ran from your country of your birth; as you did from challenging surf...

you see now you are just showing your ignorance the Zulus being a tribe located in south Africa now whilst this is one of the more well known countries in Africa and whilst than are arguably the most well known tribe in Africa they actually only make up a tiny part of even the south African population. That plus their tribal lands being approx 2300km from where we lived which took about 3 days or so to drive makes your supposition highly unlikely. But good try perhaps a seniors class in geography wouldn't be ad-miss either

bingin is all good but you got to be prepared for some paddle battles to get waves haha. And watch out for the dry section at the end. I.e don't stay on the wave too long.

Anawhata will be pretty heavy today i reckon on the low tide.

Na bro not necessary, although you can do it that way aswell. Apply for a 60 day visa You will have to send your passport, proof of $$, proof flights in/out of country to the embassy in welly. It will cost u $70nzd

Way easier than going in/out of indo

I posted my passport in the other day for a visa only to receive a call today saying they don't accept personal cheques, only bank cheques

yeah go to singapore or malaysia or if you go to imigrasi in denpassar which is just past the airport, it was about 400,000 from memory last timefor a second month and took 10 or so days, alot cheaper than the agents that hang around the town center

getting an extension over there is even easier i reckon and all you need to do is fill out a form hand it in go back in 3-4 days pay - go back in 7 days pick up passport with new extended visa in it.

well im not a guru but heaps of boards along poppies 2 and along the side streets id wander around for a few days looking and then start the bartering as they can smell how new you are to the country so the prices increase from that!

I cant really rember. I think 250,000 from ubud. Which in that traffic is actually pretty far.

I think it was like a 100k back to canggu. We stuck with a driver we got reccomended. He constantly gave us cheaper prices than what others were paying. Even though hed cruise miles to pick us up haha.

When I did a couple of trips down to medewi I just rented a board. Cost next to nothing but required a biut of negiotion (like everything does on that island).

I'd prefer to stay at balian. Way nicer (more scenic) but medewi is also pretty rad and cheaper and im sure theres some not commonly surfed spots around there that are good. Theres rooms for 70 k in medewi but they are rough as. Theres a mean spot in bailian on the side of the river closer to kuta, the not so popular side. Little treehouses. About 75k. We didnt stay cause they were full but they look awesome.

I wouldnt drive from kuta on a scooter all the way to medewi in one go. Its pretty far and the roads are mental. Take a few breaks and youl be sweet

Yep Medewi is one of my favourite spots to stay and chill in Bali, a taste of old Bali, the rivermouth gets great rights to, awesome locals, very early mornings are the go

Head across the river where the right is, the next reef structure about 500m down in front of Dajuma Villas can get insane in the right conditions.

Medewi is a pretty nice spot with other excellent waves in the area, when small the point itself can be a bit soft but changes character a lot over 4 foot, booties are the go as there are a shi^load of urchins, sniff out the other waves in the area and you will leave a happy man.

Other Indo tips

Asia is all about face, if you show anger/unhappiness you will cause the other to lose face which is the worst thing that can happen, always play ur cool cards.

Streetfood is delocious, sheap and healthy, chow down big time.

Bargain but not too hard, these guys are trying to make a living too.

Look past the obvious, sure you can surf Ulus with 100 other guys but there are a lot of other waves around, also get up really early and hit it at dawn every day.

When a good swell is going to hit, get the hell out of Bali, Java is close and the SW has many uncrowded waves.

Work hard to get away from the Bukit,Ubud, Cagnuu tourist traps.

Travel in a small crew no more than max 3 and make sure they have a similiar surfing level and perspective on people.

Avoid loud mouth drunks, large groups of Brazilians and all forms of voilence.

Don't snake and drop in.

Have the best times.
