no SUP can handle the fury of Tamaki- which as we all know only ever breaks when its MASSIVE.

I have seen the SUP s*um cruising over it when it is flat however yelling out "hey looking I'm surfing tamaki reef" however they are easily picked off with a high powered rifle and scope from the cliff top.

However as a farmer fears the plague of lucusts I too fear the plague of SUP'ers who will alsmostly certainly try to give it a give it a crack next time the moon is blue.

Treatmes offer today was for a $30 2 hour SUP lesson. The tagline was "This is the closest thing to the hoverboards from Back to the Future Part II we're going to get, folks."

Doc would not be impressed.

its a shortage of ammo which has me concerned marko...one man one gun....it could be like Zulu Dawn, if i am overun I will send out the "broken Arrow" signal- we may need reserve troops on hand at short notice.

...once the plague takes T.Reef, then all other breaks of consequence will follow- then we will know that all is lost, and it will time to turn the gun on ourselves and fire that last round...for life after that ghastly eventuality surely will not be worth living?? .... we will be slaves in our own waves.

The SUP menace is a truly frightening phenomenon. I've had a many a session where these gutless swine have appeared. One such session was at spot x. I took some new comers out to this reef. I explained to them the beauty of this spot is its remoteness and lack of crowds. Then all of a sudden a group of jesus like characters appeared on the horizon. Time revealed they weren't walking on water. Instead, they were on paddle boards.

These gutless thugs revealed their truly kooky nature. Flailing, flapping and falling all over the place, paddles in toe. Unfortunately the tide was very high which enabled these stand up paddle clowns to time after time again avoid meeting their demise on the reef. I nearly encountered a certain death, when the boat like vessel came gunning straight for me. The captain of the paddle ship showed he had limited control of his board. Which essentially means anyone in the lineup is at risk when these things are in the water.

Don't get me wrong, SUP's do have their place in the water. Places like Lake Taupo, or maybe Mission Bay are the perfect spots to dock your SUP. Be sensible SUP riders, get!

A sad story indeed. Once again the dangers of unrestrained SUPping are laid bare for all to see.

A challenge? To be honest I can't be bothered with such a challenge. Those with eyes will see and those with ears will hear... SUP's have their place in the world and I am not their Messiah.

Interesting to note however that my mate, Big Pete (he's actually not so big) who borrowed my board for his Coro holiday had a great time on it, reckons it was great for his back (prolapsed disk) and that he's like to spend more time on it. Reckons it's ideal for around here but like me he's not into the idea of hitting waves thet can be surfed properly. He was going to drop it back last saturday but I haven't seen him yet.... buggers probably off riding it now.

I hate to admit that probably the best barrel I saw anyone get on my recent 3 weeks in the deep south was by a SUP. He set himself up from so far back and he just nailed it on a real good overhead one.
I'm also ashamed to admit that I hooted him.
The whole thing was made worse by the fact that if he hadn't been able to take off 50 metres further out the wave would have been mine!

If only.
He was someone who knew how to set up a barrel.
But he'd gone over to the dark side.
He did a real good job of getting the boat, his paddle and his stomach all totally pitted though.

Get up, STAND SUP, stand up for your rights

And uncle Bob say Get up, STAND SUP………..
All the boogie an goat, dey no gloat

Uncle Bob say get up stand SUP………………..
The Remuera house wife, Paremoremo prison life
Ponsenby cafes, designer blue staffs
North of Bombay and stand proud and say
And uncle Bob say get up stand SUP……………………
North of Bambay stand up army on da way
We da new foot souljah, we run you ova.

Laird should have prefaced that with, "from where I stand as a guy whos done nothing but surf all his life due to an indulgent dad, has never had a real job, is built like a brick sh1thouse and is comfortably off by the standards of most multi millionaires, it seems that..." etc etc...

Laws also apply and are made for the 1%.... though the way they act and generally carry on they obviously think they are above them...

See the surf report for a full account of a successful anti SUP mission, I can report that the Baron menace trumps the SUP scourge, and that the domination was accomplished with morning pleasantries delivered to the enemy prior to the commencement of hostilities, as well as during.

Only one stink eye and a ramming move were used to supplement the primary tactic of general lineup domination.

The SUP drop in was a last ditch attempt by a member of the enemy forces to fight back, it was however doomed to failure not just because of the inevitable impact but because they couldn't make any waves.

Excellent work brother Roy. Your exploits have been duly noted by the Global anti-SUP movement. I reckon we could hire you out to certain surf spots to help stamp out localized SUP infestations. Takapuna reef would be the holy grail. Orewa unfortunately is so badly infested that we would probably require the combined forces of you and Pipe.
