I only ended up watching it for about 10 mins before moving on, it was insane and relentless. A spot further up the coast was firing and the inner harbour at Whitianga was breaking, only time I've ever seen it break.

yeah, had tairua on a few times.
one eve i watched that point absolutely cranking with standup sized barrels from outside all the way to shore. perfection.
next morning a mate and i were on it from dawn, but i got smashed and after a few waves i admitted defeat..and vowed to never hit the p1ss the night before a dawny ever again.

After living at sandmine for months and running up and down the beach carrying bins of driftwood for training and bread baking purposes the images from the article of the running battle fought there are quite vivid

Still go on the close range roadies with them but cant really get any of them keen to do the missions that we used to do. Maybe since my motivation seized with my cashflow they seized because of me.
actually i did drag the mrs down to the wairarapa with me a month or 2 ago but that end in distaster when the swell never showed up and the wind got so strong the tent couldnt hold. Afew other dudes from the naki got shafted with the forecasts that week aswell

The coromandel is the one place in NZ I've never surfed. Been there a few times but it's always been flat. Surfing Great Barrier certainly got me interested in heading to the Coromandel again.
