nah getting a pu but glassed with epoxy for the strength to weight bonus, will prob get it done 4+4 top and 4 bottom but will have to talk to Jdub about it

In my opinion getting a pu glassed with epoxy doesn't give it any more strength. If anything I've found that the boards I glassed with epoxy over pu got pressure dings faster that those glassed with poly and the same glassing schedule.

like a performance thruster is a good board but not very exciting to get another one with a sligh variation in it where this board is just totally different and getting PU as then can be hand shaped

stoners are more productive and interesting than people like jabes.
Its a great board Jabes gets a lot of use out west. Pretty much had it made for the shiite conditions at piha so it gets a lot of use ha ha. Goes good in good conditions too though !

I ride polypro core with dow deck i think. pootube knows lots about that
i see standup surfing as all you see bodyboarding
heaps of suppliers seem to be going towards mesh, now instead of stringers seems like it would just make the whole board stiff instead of just round the stringer

I think the mesh is designed to make it pretty flexy while retaining memory and strength I am guessing, I should really know this sh1t. Sometimes stringers pop out in extreme circmstances.

Here's some shots of the Island about an hour ago. The tide's a bit too low and the swell's got a bit of a wobble, but still better than a kick in the nuts. Would have been really fun first thing on the high tide. Too bad I used up my surf credits yesterday.

Here is a set wave peeling behind the takeoff rock. This is known as "The Interislander" On super high tides with a super clean SW swell it is possible to ride from here and get past the inside of the takeoff rock. It's also a bit more sheltered from the northerly.

Here is a shot of the first section immediately after the takeoff. This has a great bowl to it and is the best part of the wave in my opinion.

Here is a shot of the hideous dry reef suck out that is the left. I have attempted to surf here once and ended up sitting on dry reef. I reckon it would be a great lid spot. God knows why it's in the guide.

Here is a good lineup from a bit further up the hill. You can see all three sections of the wave in this shot. The inside section is spilling wide here due to the low tide, but at high tide it's a pretty sick barrel section over knee deep water.

It's well fun out there, but it always looks a bit wobbly as the reef is pretty uneven and there is a bit of backwash off the actual Island. It's also quite a bit bigger than it looks.

There are four things that put people off the Island.
1/ It's a long paddle.
2/ The takeoffs are really tricky
3/ The best place to take off is also the most difficult
4/ It gets cut to shreds by a northerly.

I have yet to surf the island. Always end up somewhere else if surfing with mates and not too keen to give it a go by myself.
Had an ok sesh Thursday, Managed to get worked in a shore break and ended up with a bleeding nose courtesy of my board. Few Doh sets, felt a bit out of my league on my 6'0.

No worries. One thing though: The Island's official name is Taputeranga Island. Nobody in Island bay calls it Rat Island. The surf spot is simply known as "The Island".

Shore Break ay... mmm narrows it down a bit. I reckon you were at a certain left hander not too far from town.
