That's a good point, the common denominator, of those school shootings, Or flip outs like the buisiness men couple of years ago in the states ( shot 15 emloyees or something) is psychiatric drugs, you can find those types of crimes, were talking single flip outs, man killing women and baby with kichen knife for no "apparent" reason and back track it down to that. Wether they would have if they were not on it is hard to know, it's only known that they were on a psych drug at that time and i think that says a lot. No ?

Just heard the news on the radio here in holland that in "Zierikzee" a family drama occured details are few, but what i got is that one guy killed 3 family members, I can almost guarantee you right now, the guy was on psych drugs. it might take a couple of months before i come accross that info, but i can pretty much guarantee you that. And if i'm wrong i will post it.

hey roy, yeh its not only that but physical manifistations that present themselves when kids or adults are studying like irritation, lack of concentration, getting sleepy, frustration, not wanting to carry on (because they run in to problem of studying) and then when a kid gets rebelious to be at school they might get send to a shrink. When all it is, is not being able to grasp the material. fvkng madness.

Yeah it's madness alright, plus it isn't necessarily not being able to grasp the material it can be just that they don't want o do it. The law states that children must do the schoolwork but that ignores the fact that some just don't want to do so, it's a big ask taking ten of the first 16 years of life away from a person and expecting all of them to accept it without complaint. In my opinion they have no right to do so. Drugging the dissenters while labelling them as mentally ill is completely evil, and is the tactic used with increasing frequency in many other areas by the tyrannical controllers.

It's cold comfort to know that the fascists have damned themselves !

I just found out that a surfing friend from the barrier days had eventually succ*mbed to the psych drugs which caused his depression and topped himself using an overdose of the prescribed 'cure'. Such a bummer as he was a really intelligent person and had a great sense of humour. I blame the shrinks 150%.

I have another beef.

female singers!!!

What is it with women singers and all this Diva sh1t? Had a first hand experience of this last week at a jam with my band. We are practicing for a gig in 2 weeks and I'm sharing the vocals with a girl who sings very nicely. There is a quite a bit of history involved that I wont go into (mainly because it doesn't involve me becuase I'm fairly new to the band) but she basically packed a paddy about the way our lead guitarist was playing the chords to one of the songs we were kicking into. Apparently they have always played it this way but not according to the Diva This was after we had just nailed a really good version of Hotel California which she also proceeded to 'critic'. Apparently we had lost some punch somewhere between verse 2 and 3 and the rhythm was out or something. Oh pleeeease ... just fuk up and sing FFS!

And then (yes there is more) I get roped into doing duet with this other women singer, doing a Meat Loaf song (gag) ... I arrange a practice, work on the song all week and had it sounding pretty bloody good as an acoustic version. She comes round for the practise and starts getting all bloody Diva on me over this. For me its all about trying to make a song your own. I don't sound like Meat and she doesn't sound like the other singer in Meats duet so why try and make it sound just LIKE the original. Farking amatuers.

Haha! Blunt.... I know EXACTLY where you're coming from!! I have had the 'pleasure' of working with many vocalists, both male and female. Your post just reminded me of some of the sh!t these prima donna's come out with!

The thing is, so many vocalists think the end product (after I have 'tinkered' with and 'cleaned up' their vocal) is the exact same product that comes straight from their angelic mouths.... Little do they know that I have had to spend however long 'fine tuning' bits to make it sound as good as it did hehe...

But I have to say, I have also met a few "male' diva vocalists too unfortunately.... not a pretty sight!

Good luck, Blunt...

"Typically, the dysfunctional diva is self-indulgent and has a pervasive attitude of self-importance. In many cases, she perceives adulation and privileged treatment from others as an entitlement. She has an constant need for attention. When faced with any criticism, her reaction is typically petulant. Being inconvenienced generally invokes irritability. She finds patience to be a difficult practice due to a predisposition toward instant gratification. The dysfunctional diva typically places a high value on personal enjoyment. In the absence of entertainment or external stimulation, boredom is often the result. Dispassionate about introspection to discover identity and develop character, she is rather more interested in gossip over the personal details about the lives of friends, family members, celebrities, and popular people.
In addition, the dysfunctional diva often neglects to appraise how her actions will affect those around her. She tends to favor her own preferences over the preferences of others, and is inclined to pout when her desires go unfulfilled. The learned behavior patterns of self-focus and self-absorption are generally deeply ingrained. True empathy is difficult for the dysfunctional diva, because she has a hard time removing the focus from herself to genuinely sympathize with others. Always the victim, she rarely believes that another’s problems could ever supersede her own."

Doesn't sound like paradise by the dashboard light, now does it?

haha great posts MM and grlncrl.

I have worked musically with 5 different girls over the years ... and let me note, I'm very easy going and happy to give most things a go. But I'm also experienced enough to know what works and what doesn't, and what will please a crowd. The acoustic version I arranged would have worked really well ... would have bought the house down (40th and 50th B'day party this weekend). But not according to this girl. I've been playing live reguarly for the last 6 years but hey, what the F do I know

Secretly I think she realised she couldn't cut the key changes in the song, its a cheesy number but not easy to sing! She's thinking of doing a Leonie Lewis version of 'The first time ever I saw your face' instead. At least she choose another easy song Its not like Leonie has a big voice or anything LOL.

I enjoy all aspects of the music biz MM. I'd recorded and mixed several CDs of my original songs starting on a 4 TASCAM 4 track to using Computer based multi-track software (not protools). I find the recording side of it fiddley and annoying because its so exacting but love enginnering and mixing. Live play I prefer to do solo stuff because its more flexible and I can taylor the set list to the audience as I have over 100 songs I can call on. Band work is harder because I've never worked with a band long enough to build up a lots of songs ... but band work can be very rewarding when it all comes together on gig night. Planning priactises is a nightmare when your working, have young kids etc.

And then there's just the picking up the acoustic and playing a few tunes on my front porch. If I couldn't play music, sh1t I think I'd actually have to go for a surf

Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here is a great cover live. Copperhead Road's another gooder.

just back from witnessing & being part of the dumbing of society. what was once a pristine paradise is now an out of control sprawling germ...cheers man.

onshore for 8 days. rained for one day, then sunny and cloudy till arvos when the humidity started to hit hard. inland was underwater.
according to one sane surfer i had a yarn with, apparently down the road there was some kinda rideable wave(altho i had gathered that by the maps), however there was a gathering of thousands of surfers, most of which were up at first light.

i got up prior to first light every morn (first light is around 5.30am, it got dark early as well, about 7.15) to check the breeze and weather conditions, then went about studying & being part of the whole 'life in paradise' machine.

kids enjoyed the sea, pools, skateparks, theme parks etc.

i managed to set off every metal detector i walked through & had my bag turned inside out courtesy of the person who could and wanted to question my honesty ...the matrix appears to be in full working order as expected.... an apology would have made them seem a bit more human.

i kept my eye out for the tsumani all the way from dunners(after driving through & out-running major bush fires) to chch, and only saw fun waves and one or 2 big bays that looked ultra low tide, and then a few minutes later saw a beach that looked high spring tide.. i was well aware of the threat of impending doom from the pacific wall of water after following the bbc news reports from about 3am, so was at the ready to take the vehicle off road if required.

all in all, glad to be home at the top of the world.
think i'll go sort out the vege patch now...and enjoy some quiet work in the fine weather.

Fire Your Bass Player

I'm a great pro bass player looking for a new band,
and have a lot of experience playing in all kinds of bands.
I don't like to brag,
but to be honest I'm the best bass player in Nashville.

I am picky about the kind of music I play.
I don't like playing in original bands,
because most of the players in those bands aren't good enough to play
covers,
and I don't like country because it's for morons.
I'll play any style except reggae, ska, country, originals, classical,
hip hop, rap, alternative, jazz, punk, new age, classic rock, or metal.
I play current rock, and only current rock,
even though most of it sucks,
so I'm extremely particular about the kind of music I play.
Think Nirvana meets Eric Clapton,
with a touch of Motor Head thrown in
(I know they're not NEW, but that's the style of music I prefer).
If that is the kind of music you play, hit me up, otherwise don't waste
my time.

I'm ready to play immediately.
I just need a little help financially to get my bass out of the pawn shop,
and it would be great if you can loan me a little for strings,
just until we get paid from our first gig, and I'll pay you back.
I'm going through a messy divorce,
but fortunately I get my kids part of the time, usually on the weekends.
That won't be a problem though,
because I can get a babysitter if I have enough notice if a gig comes up.
I don't have a phone right now,
but I'm planning to get a prepaid one as soon as I get a job.
I'm staying with a friend right now and writing this on his computer,
so you can contact me here.
He says I can stay here one more month before I have to find a new place.

I'm hoping to move back in with my Mom,
but for some reason she's not returning my calls.
My car got repossessed recently,
so it would be great if someone in the band can give me a ride and haul
my bass,
just until we get things going and we start making some serious money.
My brother knows a guy whose sister is dating the ex-drummer of a band
in Fargo, North Dakota that used to get some bookings from an agent
in Detroit who cousin is the wife of a lawyer that who was hired
to put together a deal for a band that almost got a contract
with a big record company in Los Angeles before the deal fell through.
Bottom line is, I've got great connections.

cont...

Yes, I am in RECOVERY,
and part of recovery is admitting you have a problem,
but I haven't had any significant relapses since my last stint in rehab,
I only smoke a little 420, and only on the breaks,
and I'm always careful nobody sees me in the parking lot.
All other form of recreation wait until AFTER the gig!

Besides, unlike some other bass players in Nashville that have on-going
"issues"
(you bass players know who you are)
you know you can absolutely count on me staying sober
and NOT HAVING A SUBSTANCE ABUSE OR ALCOHOL PROBLEM
because my doctor says
any of that stuff will interfere with the effectiveness of my medication.

I'm ready to play, so if you want the best bass player in Nashville, hit
me up!

Let me reiterate: 2-3 hours per week of light building work in exchange for cheap(er) rent.

I'm always suspicious when a woman refers to "light building work"

Generally means you're gonna be lugging 40kg bags of cement and hand digging 500 post holes....

Got a road trip coming up, any good places to stay in taranaki? Under $100/night, quiet clean and close to surf.

Thinking camping ground cabins but B&B or motel would also be ok.

Also going to far north (eliots, ahipara, taupo bay), rags and maybe gissy and great barrier so any suggestions welcome.

I've just spent 3 hours at our internal "state of the nation"
At the end of it I had the opportunity to speak to the head of marketing. I suggested she use The Stig rather than Richard Hammond for the next XT campaign because he's faster than Hammond and doesn't crash....
