I was in Christchurch yesterday- had an agreeable steak washed down with cold beer between meetings. I briefly feared for my life on both landing and take off.
At which establishment 2020? Were you blown away by Christchurch's ethnic diversity?
P.S. Chinese people don't have beer and steak for lunch.
It was some joint on the strip- the one closest to the Bridge Of Rememberance- and with regard to the locals all I'll say Marko is that you are along way from Ponsonby Road![]()
I found this snippet which helps explain it there 2020:
Really big snows
From CCC archives: Christchurch City Update '97 - Natural Hazards
"Significant snow storms have occurred in Christchurch in 1895, 1896, 1901, 1918 1945, 1992 and 2006. Snow storms cause damage to buildings and power lines, and disruption to traffic and communications within urban areas and stock losses in rural districts. Scientists have also identified two significant secondary effects, snowmelt flooding, and rather large bums. It appears that in the first four large snowstorms to hit Canterbury, approximately half of the female population was wiped out, having frozen to death while hanging out the washing. A remaining third with any reasonable sensibility to them emigrated to Auckland. The remaining genetic stock consisted of the hardy types, girls with big hands and not afraid of a hard day swinging an axe, or pulling a cart. The end result is that Christchurch is now largely devoid of the types of women that make sipping lattes on Ponsonby or Parnell Roads a respectable and highly entertaining pastime.
I dunno though, I managed to find a diamond in the rough!

Thanks Phoam
I would like to take more, but I end up snapping one or two, then getting all frothy and selfish about catching waves myself... Someone should invent a head-mounted camera that takes a photo when you blink an eye or something.
Like your blog article on water. Though, I have to say, when we visited California, tap water was *diiis-gusting*.

Nay waves for me with Mrs db's 30th last weekend. Sold the truck today, so this weekend will be devoted to getting a wave, and finding a new vehicle I think.

Speaking of, we had a nice wee sesh half a mile out there not long after you arrived back in the 03 Mr Sharko.
I remember that. Groovn was out too if I recall?
*edited 02 Apr 2010 21:10
It was the first time I'd surfed with you DS, although I do believe this might be a bit further south.
Speaking of bars, it was looking pretty nice this morning before the wind came up, alas, I was playing in the sand entertaining a 20 month old.

two at taylors late this arvo mosco ,but only 8 or 9 surfers.you got to love the no crowded factor ,early tomorrow ..north bar will be all time.![]()
--------------------------------
..
Good stuff Jelly... That's a bit of a result for Taylors isn't it!!
Just for the record, I've got nothing against SUPers personally, but its a bit daunting when they start out numbering the surfers!?!? Also, it helps if they actually look like they are in control of the damn things to start with!

Mc MoScO ........ " Da' 'REaL (mc) DEaL!*"
anything sub shaped coming at you is a bad thing mosco.
