Awesome experience in the surf yesterday: I'm paddling back out at "Barbwires," a stone's throw north of Trestles, and I hear a loud "pooooffff" then see plenty o'fin.
Instinct and immediate thought: "shark!"...secondary thought of reason: that was the sound of a "blow hole."
Moments later, myself and the 2 other guys on the peak were surrounded by a pod of porpoises. Must have been a dozen of 'em. Man, were they big and thankfully they were playful. They were close enough to touch and stuck around for about 10 minutes or so, playing in the waves and fully takin' over.

Looks like booger's paradise out the back on the right going left. If only they built another one aye.
good Taylors today at low tide. Glassy overhead and hollow on the inside banks. funny what 2 weeks out of the water does to the temperature! Even with the hood on, duckdiving 5 set waves was getting pretty damn old.
Downsouth - you surfing tomorrow? Have a pass and keen to use it. DB? Jell-o?
P.S. Did any of you guys have a button in hood floating round of downsouth's? I have a vague recollection of thinking - nah, don't need that anymore - at the end of last winter.

Well me and my girl went for a walk down the pier today, which was half-way if you were lucky. There were a few hopefuls, but only two who'd made it out. They were headed northward in a hurry and were pulling off anything they could've caught. I'd say some undies were browning out there, though they would've been fine. It was actually peeling quite nicely if one could've made the paddle. Jabes would. I'd give me 50/50 in the summer, and it'd have to be the hell lucky lull to get out in winter. Saw one ripping frother jog down the beach with his shortboard, start paddling by the pier, and about 10 minutes later, make the walk of shame back to the carpark from about 400m north. I restrained myself from passing comment, cos at least he gave it a nudge.

Hell, I reckon there'd be less than a jeepney-load of people even know about one of them (and of those who do, less than half would step up and surf it - I sure as hell wouldn't!), so he ain't stole the photo I reckon.
