BC - Arguing with Roy is an interesting intellectual challenge. This thread has not been very productive though, it degenerated into insults and abuse fairly quickly - suggesting to me a distinct lack of structure and evidence on the opposing side.
'Legalise Marijuana' was more interesting, at least looking at some of the stories Roy told us I can see why he thinks the way he does about medicine and health care (even if I disagre with him about almost everything he says)
Roy is far from a joke BTW! I'm sure there are a lot of things where I would bow to his superiority (wooden surfboard building for example)

As for lining up, yes, from what I've just read there's 27 member states currently and Croatia, Macedonia, Iceland, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro and Serbia are lining up to join.

The stated aims of the EU which you posted are not exclusive to the EU.
By implying that if one is not in favour of the EU one is not in favour of its stated aims you are making a logical error.
Another error is assuming that the stated aims of the EU are what they will actually do, or that if one agrees with a stated aim in general that one will agree with the specific policies which are enacted under that aim.
