Bit of levity needed in these trying times and what better than a good old best and worst list..... of current TV programs.....

Best

1. Californication
(smokin hot babes and sex from a male point of view - no relationship agonising, no Jimmy Choo shoes, no desperate houswives on a street with more crazy goings on than the texas chainsaw massacre house, just more snatch and more often... Duchovny gets all the best gigs)

2. Destroyed in seconds
(cant believe no one ever thought of it before, show sh1t getting blown the fack up. winner!)

3. Family Guy
(vag jokes and miscegenation... seth is one sick funny puppy)

4. Cops
(still rules after ten years)

5. Batman, the brave and the bold
(surprisingly good and dark kids animated sat morning show, if im up in time im on it)

Worst

1. Numbers
(was Ridley scott in any way involved in this implausible, unengaging piece of cr@p? the only wonder is it managed to get past the pilot)

2. Fringe
(JJ Abrams latest scourge on the world as if Lost wasnt bad enough, its like satan sent the sci fi antichrist to plague us with really bad sci fi TV.... )

3 Anything with CSI in the title
(im so over 'identical apart from location' forensic crime "thrillers")

4. undercover boss
(crying CEOs are not entertaining, have these b1tches no dignity?)

5. the bachelor
(or any reality TV involving many men or women courting one man or woman, Daisy of love, Flava of love, Charm school, gay, straight or taken etc... a new nadir for the tube)

2: Tosh.0
3: House
3".5: Doctor WHo -new series
4: NCIS
5: always a soothing mind numb..... Home and Away
6: All the underbelly series especially the last one,
WORST:
1: Outrageous Fortune - this series,,, just not cutting it
2:Road Cops or whatever,,, funny but lame at the same time,,
3: Target

never seen any of them.
don't watch telly much. although last eve i was interested in the doco on what we don't see.
what fascinated me the most was the range of the light spectrum and light waves...amazing. all that light and we only see a fraction..kinda makes ya wonder what else is out there we don't see.

but yeah, overall i find tv a bit bland these days.

Sorry Seeka, that first invisible worlds program was utter bollox, all that 'cutting edge' stuff is decades old, i read about ultraviolet vole wee and UV flower patterns when i was in secondary school (11 upwards in the UK) the 'hot Bee' footage has been in several previous docos too. (see if you can find youtube footage of japanese bees boiling an invading giant hornet to death with thier body heat!!!)

Hopefully the rest of the series wont be so uninformative... I havent given up hope it will have something new.. but you cant hold up too much hope when you have that midget c0ck from the inexplicably popular Top Gear at the helm

Second would be Deadliest Catch.

no need to apologise, opinion is just that.

yeah, most folk know about the light thing...but i just enjoyed seeing it...i had no idea how big the light spectrum actually was, musta been wagging school that day.

i quite enjoy antiques roadshow and d1ckinsons real deal, some of the stuff that turns up is just great imo.

but yeah, on the whole i find telly a waste of valuable time...unless it's a doco of some sort. there is a building show on now and then(english) that interests me sometimes.

There was an awesome doco on the sardine run (breeding sardines in the north atlantic) on the other day David attenborough, it was just amazing.

contrast this with Invisible worlds "special corona sensitive camera" (really meaning 'add really dodgy special fx sparks' to the picture)
kicking off a docu-mentary with false images doesnt bode well, auntie beeb is slipping!

I always enjoyed Will and grace, Boston legal, and arrested development but the thread was current TV as its a bit of a doldrums for good TV at the moment, where are the shows with the staying power of X files, Red Dwarf, Ab fab and Blackadder? too much money going into easy, cheap to make 'reality' shows...

Leaving aside the dubious wisdom of courting the almost universally hated british foxhunting fraternity, it was a singularly unamusing and pointless exercise.

Its kinda like watching 'the rock' radio station ads, funny, but only if you think my 'name is earl' is a reality tv show about your neighbourhood...

Tv at its finest is damn good, I guess one of the reasons why im pretty ambivalent about music these days is i get way more of a buzz ( the same buzz i used to get from music) from gaming and movies, theres a lot more creativity going on with those entertainment media than the rehashing and mashing of a few tropes that pop music has become.

I was working for sony music in 1994 when the Playstation 1 was launched. The MD held up this boring looking white box and said, the media for this box will outstrip music sales within 2 years by ten to one .... and much to our disbelief, he was right...

I liked Lost because it was different - there hasn't really been anything like it, and it was really refreshing. Some seasons were a total waste of time, while the last episode was just a big load of sheite.

Plus I hated that fat c*nt Hurley.

While the team-switching was a tad annoying and predictable, I didn't mind it that much. What I REALLY hate about Heroes is all the hooking up. Every episode someone has to behave like a horny 16 year old and kiss anyone in the immediate vicinity.

The kissing and romance scenes were absolute rubbish, and it got to the point where it was like a MTV reality show and went completely ridiculous and over the top.

Plus the plot started to suck big time too. It had a lot of potential but they ruined it.

Lost was pretty polarising (non punintended) you either loved it or hated it... I saw the first few episodes i nthe states when it first screened there, and thought it was some cheap made for tv mini series.

When i got back its started screening here several months later, and I watched it again..... and thought this is some f+cked up sh*t, and really enjoyed it.

It probably ran for 2 series too long though...but i loved some of those unridden waves inthe back ground beach shots

I saw a David Attenborough doco a couple weeks back which included whales hunting herring in the north pacific. Amazing photography and the show was totally absorbing. Can't remember the title.

Current TV,

Anything with Hugh Fearnly-Wittingstall. The guy is the biz....
Grand Designs on Living channel
Restoration Man on TV1, well cool
Thrillseekers Guide, Skiers World and Great Motorcycle Journeys on travel channel.
Big Bang Theory

and Spartacus, Blood and Sand on the box. Gladiator fights and Lucy Lawless with her t1ts out.

Hasn't started screening yet, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be my favourite if the trailer is anything to go by, Raiders of the Lost Snow on travel channel. Unbelieveably crap title but epic looking footage.
