I don't rely on 'welfare' in fact I've had a modest private income ( not counting my business income ) for the past 23 years which I'm most thankful for !

Furthermore I have not stated that I donate money to people in Pakistan.

For your information the only charity I have donated to is Greenpeace who I gave money to from 2000 to 2010, I stopped the payments this year as I don't agree with their support of the global warming scam.

funny how carbon dating was all good with the god squad until the shroud of turin turned out to be 16th century mock up...

im not surprised that our resident catweazel is dubious about it, but a mac book toting chap like snap shouldnt have a problem with the theory or the practise...

carbon dating can be out by hundreds of thousands of years if they are talking tens of millions, not so bad, it get more accurate the 'newer' an object is. its not down to the 3 to 4 months either side yet, but its certainly accurate enough to debunk more than a few sacred cows of religion which is where i guess the vitriol comes from,

Dont know why they bother, some peoples faith makes the best and most accurate evidence irrelavant

Misconception # 1: Carbon dating can be used to date objects that are millions or even billions of years old

Carbon dating is one of the most popular radioactive dating methods used today. Ironically, despite its popularity, it is also one of the most misunderstood methods of dating. Many people mistakenly believe carbon dating can be used to date objects that are millions or even billions of years old. The fact is, carbon dating can only be used to date things up to approximately 50,000 years old. In fact, if an object contains (radioactive) carbon, this should be a clue that the object may not be any older than 50,000 years.

Misconception #2: Carbon dating can be used to date virtually anything

Another misconception people have about carbon dating is that it can be used to date virtually anything. Carbon dating can only be used to date objects that were once living or even apart of a living organism. Such things are a leaf, a bone, wood, flesh, etc. It cannot be used to directly date inorganic objects, such as rocks (other radioactive dating methods are used to date radioactive rocks).

Be cautious of accepting a carbon age

One should not accept any age from a dating method, including carbon dating, without knowing exactly how the dating method works and its limitations. Many people also don’t realize that carbon dating (along with other radioactive dating methods) is based upon unverifiable assumptions. While this doesn’t render the dating method useless, it does bring its overall accuracy into question.

What are you doing to help the people in pakistan?
sweet FA is the answer...

Despite decrying my stance on the whole thing your 'support' runs to the usual delerious 'Roy againt the big bad evil world' blathering...

at least im honest enough to say i dont give a flying fuk and i wont be helping them or giving thier dismal culture support or help out of thier current predicament.

If your honest you will admit the same or put your hand in your taxpayer supported pocket and fire a bit of charity over there.

Money which would definitely be better spent in Christchurch

good idea, extremely poor and self serving execution..... you cant do art and expose at the same time.....

Oh yeah and your posts on carbon dating fair enough, but we are talking what has become a generic term for a whole bunch of isotopic dating methods which can date organic objects or even rocks gazillions of years old.
