ISOmag Issue 3
Hi fellas,
The new issue of online New Zealand bodyboarding magazine, ISOmag, has just gone live. Check it out at www.isomag.co.nz.
If you can look past all the shots of lidders/gut sliders/esky lidders/cripples/shark biscuits, we reckon you'll see the best empty wave and lineup shots that NZ has to offer. Enjoy!
some great photos indeed

Yeah they just print your name in it for shts aye? This is better as a web-publication than anything I've seen from standups in NZ. +1 for the knacker bashers.
oh so they did. Weird considering I haven't contributed to the last few issues.
Your coolness emanates, and they knew if they included your name they'd get extra kudos and respect. Right, that's it, I'm going to start namedropping 'J R' in all my sht.
you remind me of this clip

One thing I find a bit irritating with this mag is how guys are claiming to have "discovered" spots. I can pick out at least two "newly discovered" spots that I have surfed on a reasonably regular basis for at least 15 years. One of them in particular has been surfed for at least 30 years. Just because nobody was there the first time you surfed it doesn't mean you discovered it! Another thing that gets my goat a bit is saying that guys are "dominating" a certain break. I say just let the photos do the talking. Most of those guys are obviously going hard so why the need to make such disrespectful claims?
Apart from that it's a great mag that sh1ts on the stand-up publications in this country. Also big ups for them not actually saying where the lesser known spots are.

great pics!
the mag named one spot and i'm fairly sure it's not in the guides(that i've seen).
one slight criticism i have is the text on pics is sometimes hard to read, a combo of dark text running into dark b/g or white running into light b/g. this could be solved by using an outline on the text..and maybe have the text(on pics) a bit bigger? maybe my eye is starting to fail?
good effort though.cheers for the link.

Spud, I don't see any problem, I don't know what you are talking about quite frankly.

I found it hard to read the writing as well. Didn't really bother me since the photos are so good.

That's because you're a local legend. And I mean that in the most serious manner.
Picture this situation - you may have surfed those spots for years, but because they're so secret or out-of-the-way that the times they have surfed it, you haven't been there, or vice versa.
Think of it as a little bit of payback - I'm pretty sure a lot of standup mags across the world have claimed a few spots as their own or having "discovered them" as you say, with some even taken by force (e.g. "Ours"). Nothing to get too worked up about tho spuddie.

Fair enough brother Tubenet. By the way, when are you coming down here so I can show you some of my spots?
