Tow wins the day at the biggest Teahupo’o in years. The Billabong Pro Tahiti had to be called off today at Teahupoo with surf simply too big to paddle in to - however - about 15 of the world's top tow in surfers charged the world's most feared wave in a memorable day of surfing.

O'Neill CWC Classic Gisborne 2011

Gisborne New Zealand was the location for the first event of the third series of the O'Neill Coldwater Classic. As well as the obligatory surf porn the show features elements of the Maori culture (Haka, tattoo, chanting etc), the O'Neill team feed stingrays and surf down a waterfall on bodyboards.

Supermoon

A fluke of orbital mechanics brought the moon closer to Earth than it has been in more than 18 years. The biggest full moon of 2011 occurred last month. Observers have dubbed it a 'supermoon.' On Saturday 19 March 2011 at 19h00 GMT, the moon arrived at its closest point to the Earth in 2011: a distance of 221,565 miles (356,575 kilometers) away. Fifty minutes earlier, the moon was officially full.
