Since Labour Weekend Auckland's West Coast surfers have spent a lot of time standing on the sand dunes, scratching their bums and looking at onshore reform mush.

So last week so much anticipated change to offshores combined with a pulse in the swell had the Piha locals lining up for waves.

The real shame being there was really only one gig on the beach and everyone was on it. And it only had a limited window of opportunity across the high tide.

Timing is everything and Maz appeared out of the dunes, did the hot shoe shuffle across the black sand and proceeded to make the most of his "window of opportunity"

Napes (Bevan Wiig) and crew followed and canned the inside rights.

Now what we really need for Xmas is a few more banks at Piha to spread the load.
