Poll: Should Kitesurfing be run by Yachting NZ?

  • Yes Yachting NZ would support it well.

  • No it is more aligned with the surfing community and Surfing NZ should have the rights.

  • No a new association should be set up by Kitesurfers.

  • Don't know or care!

It's been pretty much "low tide" in the swell department for Sydney this past Summer. The size that was predicted a few times never lived up to expectations and the winds had a tad too much south east in them as well.

A handful of sheltered spots further up or down the coast scored but Sydney was pretty much starved until late March when all the elements combined and pretty much every beach on the coast went off. I took the easy way out and headed to the closest beach - Maroubra - more fondly known as the 'Bra", to see what was on display.

The view from the hill as I got there was a sight to behold - stacked swell lines and the offshores feathering spray off the waves. I knew I was in for a treat.

There was a mixed bunch in the water and the local hotties must have snuck off elsewhere but there were plenty of waves to go round. This was one of those days when you could have picked any beach on the coast and scored nicely wherever you were".

Cheers

Strauss.
