Poll: Should Kitesurfing be run by Yachting NZ?

  • Yes Yachting NZ would support it well.

  • No it is more aligned with the surfing community and Surfing NZ should have the rights.

  • No a new association should be set up by Kitesurfers.

The drive from Taupo Bay to Mt Manganui takes about 8 hours. But having driven up to Taupo Bay only that morning, then having left that evening at 9pm in order to get the island on, I can tell you it it feels more like a 20 hour drive. Cyclone Rene didn't produce as good quality waves as many had hoped, but who can complain with super fun waves and water as warm as I can remember.

The latest Kiwi Surf mag will hit the stands today! It’s a cracker issue featuring a little something for everyone. Leon Santorik, Nick White and Paul Greenland venture deep down south to a place where three in the surf is considered a crowd; and score some secluded tubes. Also on adventure are Clint Reid, Luke Cederman and Nat Day, this time to an undisclosed Pacific hideaway where they take on super-shallow reefs and shed a fair bit of skin for their troubles. There are interviews with Richard Christie, Paige Hareb, Rangi Ormond and Keone Campbell.  Plus Josh Kronfeld gets the best barrel you’ll ever see by an ex-All Black. And as an added bonus, this issue also comes with a free Rip Curl Rubber Soul 2 DVD.
